GREEN INITIATIVES

Our environment is our most precious asset. We are gifted to have 220 acres of some of the most beautiful land in all of Southern California, and perhaps, the world. We recognize our role in terms of stewardship for this property. It is essential for us to implement the most efficient ways to reduce, reuse and recycle materials to ensure our environmental stewardship.
This commitment reflects a complex combination of sustainability, continual updates of newest technology, consideration for our local community, staff education and hospitality excellence.

SPA OJAI SINGLE-USE PLASTIC FREE INITIATIVE

In 2017, Spa Ojai implemented the initiative to free the 30,000 square foot spa of single-use plastic items. The innovative movement replaces traditional spa amenities with eco-friendly, reusable versions and establishes a new benchmark in the luxury spa space. LEARN MORE.

GREEN GOLF

Our championship course was originally sculpted from the natural terrain of the Ojai Valley. No heavy equipment was used in its creation. Further, it features a state-of-the-art watering system for the course and landscaping. The system measures humidity, sunlight, grass density, moisture and temperature prior to automatically watering. This process produces a minimal amount of waste to provide optimal results.

EDIBLE ECOSYSTEM

The bounty of a rich California harvest is served each day in our restaurants. Heirloom tomatoes, fall vegetables, and a variety of citrus are grown in abundance. Rosemary, basil, thyme, lavender, lemon grass and edible flowers are grown and harvested from the Inn's gardens. Local farmers and ranchers supply the fresh, wholesome menu ingredients for which Ojai and the Inn have become famous.

GUESTROOMS CONSERVATION

Our guests are encouraged to participate in our linen reuse program to conserve water, energy and to minimize resource waste. Optional bed sheet changing is offered, as well the option to reuse or refresh towels. All guestrooms are cleaned using biodegradable cleaning supplies. Additionally 13,000 light bulbs were changed to LED.

OUTDOOR EDUCATION

Ojai Valley Inn offers a wide variety of outdoor activities, giving guests the opportunity to experience our natural environment in a hands-on way. Our resident beekeeper provides tours of our apiary while emphasizing the importance of bees on the ecosystem. Our knowledgeable hiking guides lead guests on breathtaking hikes throughout the Los Padres National Forest. Camp Oak, for kids ages 4 to 12, introduces young guests to the flora and fauna of the Ojai Valley, as well as the history of Ojai's original inhabitants, the Chumash Indians. The Inn's guests are encouraged to walk or ride our bikes a short distance into town to immerse themselves in the small-town charm that is an integral part of the Ojai experience.

RESORT POOL INITIATIVES

Our Resort Pool was built to ensure its energy efficiency in many ways, such as solatube day lighting in restrooms and kitchen areas eliminates electrical lighting during daylight hours, passive solar hot water heaters for restrooms and kitchen, dual flush toilets in all restrooms, occupancy sensors throughout facility, native plantings, where possible, were planted to reduce irrigation needs. And last, but not least, a retention pond to filter storm water run-off and in-deck radiant heating system to heat the pools.

CLEAN THE WORLD PROGRAM

Over 1, 500 properties in North America participate in this turn-key, rapidly-growing recycling program. All of our used guestroom amenities are donated and go through a process of being sanitized, recycled and distributed to those in need in over 40 countries worldwide. Combining the elements of substantial, positive environmental impact and social responsibility, the Inn is proud to be affiliated with this forward-thinking program.

Ojai Valley Inn is pleased to offer electric vehicle charging to guests. We currently have seven 110 volt Tesla chargers.
